Bill Bennett was part of the original mentor team that
created Team CRUSH in the fall of 2002, and has served
as lead mentor and team General Manager for the last two
years. He is a Research Staff Member at the IBM Watson
Research Center and has been an engineer with IBM for
28 years, working in various electrical, systems, and
software engineering roles, including ten years as a
department manager. Bill holds a BS in Electrical
Engineering  from University of Cincinnati, and MS in
both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering
from Boston University. He has collaborated on 9 IBM
technology patents, and has received numerous group
and individual technical awards and honors at IBM.  In the
CRUSH shop, Bill mentors all technical aspects of the
project, with a particular interest and focus on the robot
software. Bill enjoys hiking with his family, amateur radio,
cooking, and good books. He has two sons: Tobin is a
Sophomore at NAU, and Korbin is a Junior at Tucson
High. His wife of 29 years, Pam Gold, is an Expressive
Arts Therapist, working in Tucson with substance abuse
and addiction issues.
