We are very pleased to have this opportunity to introduce your company to the Sonoran Science Academy’s Team
CRUSH 1011. We are Tucson’s first and only competitive high school robotics team! We are hoping that you find our
team and mission a worthy candidate for your sponsorship in our community.

Sonoran Science Academy proudly hosts CRUSH 1011 and they are our founding sponsor. They are located at the
corner of La Cholla and Ina. SSA is a 4-year-old charter school that has achieved Arizona Board of Education’s highest
designation of “EXCELLING!” SSA is focused on preparing high school students for college and emphasizes math and
science. SSA was proud to have a Tucson Star and KVOA “Student of the Week” this year. SSA is committed to
excellence in education!

Team CRUSH, Creating Robots under Severe Heat, is a robotics club and competitive team. We compete within the
FIRST organization. FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is a nonprofit organization in
association with NASA that works to introduce young people to science and technology and inspires them to pursue
education and careers in the high tech world.  FIRST presently supports a network of over 1,000 teams from the US
and six other countries from around the world. The competitions are high-tech spectator sporting events, the result of
lots of focused brainstorming, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, project timelines, and deadlines. The
competition demonstrates to students that technological fields hold many opportunities and that the basic concepts of
science, math, engineering, and invention are exciting and interesting.

CRUSH 1011 and all other FIRST teams are given a new problem each year and challenged to create a robot that will
address that problem. We have 6 weeks and about $6,000 to complete the task. The project gives our students hands
on experience working in the team shop using a myriad of hand tools, power tools, electronic instruments, and
computer software, fabricating and assembling from parts and raw materials of metal, plastic, and wood. Team
expenses are approximately $60,000 a year, so we are always looking for opportunities to creatively raise funds,
secure sponsorships and donations and of course raise awareness about out team and spread inspiration about math
and science in our community. We are starting our new season and we have many expenses. We hope you can help us
in our endeavor!

We are thrilled that your company is interested in sponsoring Team CRUSH 1011. Sonoran Science Academy is a
nonprofit organization that holds a 503-C exemption. The EIN is 86-0990917. All donations are tax deductible. Our
team offers many benefits to our sponsors. Your corporation would be in great company joining ITT-TECH and IBM.

Sincerely,
